There's got to be the bad mixed in with the good

Emma has been our family's joy over the last 3 years. Yet, recently she has been my biggest challenge. She's always been a good kid, but lately she's turned into a little terror. In one day, she emptied a whole tube of my lipstick by rubbing it all over the couch upstairs, poured lotion that an older sibling left out all over the hallway carpet, and wrote all over her sister's bed sheets and her own stomach with a permanent marker that another sibling left out. That was in just one day. I could start a huge list of what she's been up to, but I'll refrain. Last night she cried on and off all night. I thought the days of not sleeping were over until the kids hit the late teen years.

As I reflected on the madness and my frustration with this little girl, I started to think about the necessity of opposition. Without pain and sadness, we wouldn't appreciate the joy and happiness. Without chaos, we wouldn't relish peace. It's all part of Heavenly Father's plan.

Man, Stephanie. That is really hard. I am sorry you guys are having a rough time with her. I don't know what it is that's changed, but you are right about opposition. We have to appreciate the good things.

The joys of motherhood! I have a child that has been pure mischief since the day she was mobile! It sure makes life stressful but the joyful moments make it all worth it.

You are right, and that's a good reminder for us all. It is part of God's plan. the kids go through pain and we go through it with them! who knows what's going on in her little heart or mind. Just love her through it as best you can---I have similar things with Abraham and I take it one day at a time!

I used to ask Miles, "Why did you do that?" But now I don't ask anymore because he would always say, "I don't know." And that's the answer almost all 3-year-olds would give for their craziness I think!! Good luck! I think you are an awesome mom doing an awesome job. Great insight too. I agree--there's always bad and good to every part of our lives.

You have a great attitude! I think sometimes that KIDS are our opposition AND our greatest joy! :)
