Our Vacation from Work

I am truly procrastinating getting to work today. This morning Lizzie (8) woke up feeling sick and before we knew it she was really sick. I'm hoping this is truly the end to this batch of the flu. I think I am just physically exhausted because the thought of doing anything else is daunting.

It all started when Ivan decided he needed to clean out the garage. He decided the best way to do so would be to clear out all the unfinished projects that we had stored there. Namely, enough tile and supplies to tile the 2 upstairs bathrooms and laundry room. What was left from tiling our downstairs almost 3 years ago. So, with my mom's help while she was here, Ivan started on this huge project. After the tile in the laundry room was laid, I mentioned it would be a great time to paint the walls a color other than it's original white. He agreed and then mentioned that this would actually be a great time to put cabinets in the laundry room while everything was already out. So, he went to work tearing down the long shelf across the laundry room, retexturing the wall and getting it ready to paint. I painted the room which always takes longer than you think it will. After he was done grouting the tile in the master bathroom and I finished painting, we ran into town to pick up the cabinets I had found the night before.

We got back with the cabinets around 4:30 p.m.. With the amazing help of Jason Mouso, Ivan and he finished putting up the last cabinet about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. Good thing our church schedule changed to 1-4 p.m. in January! I think I crawled into bed about midnight.

While my mom was here, we also put away most of the Christmas decorations. I still have one more tree to take down. We cleaned out and defrosted my deep freezer which was piled high with built on ice. We cleaned out part of my office and some closets. My mom who is the best went through all the kids toys and organized everything and purged us of lots of junk! She also organized the boys closet and did all my laundry! Thanks, Mom! She was a huge help, handing Ivan tiles as he needed them on the first bathroom and the laundry room. Grandma Woertz (92) kept all my dishes washed. She wanted to help with everything else too, but we told her the dishes were plenty and found her a good book to read while we were all hard at work.

Our vacation from work wasn't much of a vacation, but I think we accomplished a lot. Well, I better get back to work. I need a vacation after this vacation!

Oh my goodness you've been busy! Rob could/should have come helped you with your projects. Sorry you've had sick kids. I guess it's that time of year.

Wow! How did you do all that with your kids at home?? I have a hard time getting laundry done some days with only my two kids!! If you need a break send Emma over here for a couple of hours--I'm serious! Miles would love playing with her and you could get that last tree down or take a nap!

You guys got a lot accomplished. I'm sure it feels great not to have those projects looming over you. It was nice to have your mom and grandma there to help out too. Your grandma is so cute!
