I am so grateful for the opportunity that I had to return to Indiana
for my Grandma Dircks' funeral. It was a wonderful celebration
of the 87 years that she spent on earth. I'm grateful for the chance
I had to reconnect with all my relatives and to remember my roots.

Visiting My Great Grandparents' Grave in Frankfort, Indiana

My Cousin Gina is a pretty amazing lady! She was so gracious in hosting the dinner after the visitation on Sunday at her home in Kirklin. It was so great to catch up with her and the other family members.

My Grandma's 3 surviving children-
my dad (Steve), Sherry, and Chuck
Uncle Mike passed away when I was a teenager.

We were blessed to have another chance to reconnect with family at the luncheon before the funeral at a local church. This table held some of my dad's cousins and an aunt.
From left to right: Pat Sorling, Jeff Hardesty, Aunt Betty Dircks, Lynette Hardesty, and Rick Dircks. Dad and I stayed at Jeff and Lynette's beautiful home in Frankfort on Sunday night. They are the best, and I wish we lived a little closer!

My Amazing Aunt Sherry

Dad and I went to see the home and street where he grew up! We were pleased to see that Given Street in Frankfort is still a brick road!

Cousin, Brent McKinney, Brother Jeremy, and I

I was so excited to see my cousin Mike at the funeral! I hadn't seen him since we were teenagers. I wish his sister Kelly could have made it. Her husband was getting ready to have surgery and she couldn't get away. Uncle Jack Rader is my grandma's brother. He and my grandma were pretty inseparateable. They lived most of their lives within minutes of each other and even had cabins next to each other up at the lake. He loved her so much.

This is my grandma's sister Imogene! Isn't she the cutest little thing?

This is me and my cousin Merinda after saying goodbye to our grandma.
