My husband had lined up a babysitter for Emma and made plans for us to go see Biosphere 2 which has been on our lists of places to see since we moved here 3 years ago. So, after dropping kids, snacks, and valentines at school, we took Emma to Margie Delgado who graciously watched her while we went on our date.

Biosphere 2 is located 20 miles north of the east side of Tucson. It took us about 40 minutes to get there. We took advantage of our Tucson Passport which got us B1G1FREE admission. So, it cost $20 for both of us to get in. If you've never been, this is a place that needs added to your list. It was really interesting.

In the late 80s, Biosphere 2 was built. For 2 years, 8 scientists lived locked inside this Experimental place to see if they could survive. It's basically the largest greenhouse that you will ever see. It contains everything from desert to rain forest plantation. Here are some pictures I took from our visit.

It was an amazing tour. Plan for at least 2 hours when you go. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 15-20 minutes. The place is enormous. I can't imagine being locked inside for 2 years. That had to be hard. They had phones and television, but they were sealed inside for the entire time.
When we stepped out of the "lung", we were excited to see the snow that hadn't melted yet! It's not often that you see this white stuff in southern Arizona! Seeing snow made my day!
We had planned to go to lunch as well, but we knew we realistically did not have the time to go to a sit down place. So, we hit Bashas on our way back and got their amazing taco salads from their Deli area! It was a great day!

What a cool day! I'm glad you guys got to get out and see that together. I've never even heard of that place, but it looks absolutely fascinating.
And...I'm so excited about the first five thing. You'll have to e-mail me your address because in all my un-organization these days I don't think I have it. happygirlsue@hotmail.com(I didn't want to put this on your first five post because I don't think I should be one of your first five. =)
What fun! Thank you for the pictures and for the reminder that I used to love to shop at Bashas!
