Mother's Day

Today was a good day! We went to church, and I have to say I wasn't super excited to hear some one's rave reviews on their mother. I always feel inadequate after those type of talks. But pleasantly, the talks were focused on strengthening the family. And after all was said and done, I felt uplifted and reassured that I'm at least heading in the right direction. I may not be able to sew my son an amazing costume for his school play, and I may not be able to get patches sown onto cub scout shirts and brownie vests.

But, we do have Family Home Evening every week although it may be 30-45 minutes depending on how long the attention span for the lesson and activity are. We do try to hold regular scripture study together, and we have family prayer at least once (and most days twice if kids are awake when dad leaves for work).

When it comes down to what is most important, I know my kids know that I love them and that I love the Savior. If that is the main thing they remember about their mother, I will have been a success!

Our talks were very uplifting too. One sweet teenage boy talked about his love for his mother in very simple terms and it brought all of us mother's to tears. It was a lovely day.
